"A Special Kind of Caring"

The mission of Hospice of Laramie is to promote acceptance of the process of dying as a natural potentially fulfilling part of life, while providing emotional, spiritual, social and material resources to support the dying, their families and friends.

Hospice is a team approach to providing compassionate comfort care and pain management to someone facing a terminal illness. Hospice care not only focuses on the patient, but also on family members and/or the caregivers. The team consists of a Medical Director, RNs, CNAs, a Social Worker, a Chaplain, trained volunteers and the patients primary care physician. They all work together toward a common goal; that goal being the best quality of life for the patient during whatever time he, or she, has remaining.

Hospice of Laramie is an Albany County United Way agency. During the 2007 United Way fall campaign, contributors donated a total of $376,351 to United Way - reaching 112% of the campaign's goal.

Hospice would like to "thank" those individuals who designated their United Way contribution to go directly to Hospice of Laramie. These contributions totaled over $10,000.

"You matter because of who you are.  You matter to the last moment of your life, and we will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die."
